Footwear and apparel company Brandblack is poised to take on the big boy brands with their collection for summer 2019. Check the fire burning below.
Based in El Segundo, California, Brandblack was founded by David Raysse who previously designed shoes for Fila, Adidas and Sketchers and his longtime friend and creative director Billy Dill. Together they have done an admirable job identifying and targeting their ideal consumer, rather than trying to convert people loyal to the bigger brands. Brandblack got started with basketball shoes but it appears they have found their niche in creating lifestyle-driven apparel and footwear. Here’s the Brandblack manifesto taken from the company’s website. “We envision a future that is distinctly human, where life leads design and people precede product. Our small and nimble team works harder and smarter to infuse simplicity and seamlessness into everyday life; to reunite style and substance; to find a natural harmony between technology and humanity; to bring our vision of the future one step closer to reality. We are the exception to the expected. We are Brandblack.”
It’s was like pulling teeth to choose one single item from their collection to showcase, but the consensus here at LnL loved this Kite Racer in the ORLM colorway. In addition to the stunning Easter egg hues, the Kite Racer features an ultra-light, maximal cushion midsole designed by Brandblack for Vibram, a high-traction outsole and shank for mid-foot support and an ultra-light monofilament rip-stop upper.
